Simple & Fun Dot Sticker Activities for Toddlers (Because We Love Easy Wins)
Dot stickers: cheap, colorful, and—if you play your cards right—capable of keeping your toddler busy long enough for you to drink hot coffee. They’re also great for fine motor skills, color recognition, and even early letter learning. No prep? No problem. These four activities take minutes to set up, making them perfect for when your toddler needs a productive distraction (or when you just need five minutes to breathe). Let’s jump in.
1. The Color Dot Match
A classic. Your toddler matches colored dot stickers to corresponding dots on a big piece of paper. Simple, satisfying, and great for color recognition.
You’ll Need:
- A large sheet of white paper (or just tape some printer paper together)
- Markers (red, blue, yellow, green)
- Dot stickers in the same colors
How to Set It Up:
- Draw a bunch of colored dots all over the paper.
- Hand over the dot stickers and let your toddler go to town matching them up.
- Bonus points if they say the color names while doing it (but also, let’s be real—half the fun is just sticking stuff).
2. The Tissue Box Color Sort
That empty tissue box on your counter? Don’t throw it away just yet. Turn it into a color-matching cube instead.
You’ll Need:
- An empty tissue box
- Colored construction paper (red, blue, green, yellow)
- Glue
- Dot stickers in the same colors
How to Set It Up:
- Cover each side of the tissue box with a different color of construction paper.
- Give your toddler matching dot stickers and have them stick them onto the correct sides.
- Cheer wildly when they get it right (or at least pretend to be amazed).
3. The Wall Color Sort
If your toddler loves putting stickers where they don’t belong (ahem, furniture, their forehead, your laptop), this activity is a great way to redirect that energy.
You’ll Need:
- Painter’s tape
- Colored construction paper
- Dot stickers in matching colors
How to Set It Up:
- Tape colored construction paper to the wall at toddler height.
- Hand over a sheet of dot stickers and let them match colors by sticking them on the right paper.
- Enjoy watching them have a blast while secretly feeling like a genius.
4. The Paper Towel Roll Letter Match
An easy way to sneak in some alphabet practice—because if they’re going to cover things in stickers, might as well make it educational.
You’ll Need:
- An empty paper towel roll
- A marker
- Dot stickers with letters on them (either write them yourself or grab pre-made ones)
How to Set It Up:
- Write random letters all over the paper towel roll.
- Write matching letters on dot stickers.
- Have your toddler match the stickers to the letters on the roll.
Pro tip: Use uppercase on one and lowercase on the other for an extra challenge (or keep it simple if it’s been that kind of day).
Learning Through Play (And Buying Yourself a Few Peaceful Minutes)
Dot sticker activities are easy, engaging, and require zero artistic skills—my kind of toddler entertainment. Plus, they help with color matching, fine motor skills, and early literacy, all while giving you a few minutes to sip your coffee in peace.
Try one (or all) of these and see which one becomes a favorite! And if you need more easy, no-fuss activity ideas, check back often—I’ve got plenty more where this came from.
